Technically, I should be starting back to school today, but my professor is out-of-town, so the new quarter doesn't officially begin for me until Thursday. Thus you, dear readers, get 2 extra days of a happy ADD. As if that weren't enough, the weather is positively spring-like outside (birds twittering this morning and all). I have all kinds of fun things planned for my last school vacation day off, not least lunch and dinner out. But don't be jealous. I'm doing all of this on a TUESDAY, one of my two days off of work this week (the other being THURSDAY) so by this weekend the shift-working, school-frazzled Anne that we all know and love will be making her spring debut. Oh, joy. ;)

Happy Birthday, Kristen!

26 + bowling + cat boots = good times

SNOW DAY!

Unprecedented...my boss just called and told me *not* to report for my 2-10 shift because of the weather. I went in 2 weeks ago during the Valentine's Day storm but NOT TODAY. Woo!!!!

Or should I say "Selamat ulang tahun"!

I hope there weren't any serious fires last night

Because every fireman in DC (and quite a few from NYC) were at Irish Times. Apparently there was a benefit yesterday, attended by the lionshare of your District heros and as any good civil servants would, after benefiting they got their drink on. Completely by accident our happy hour cohabitated with these fellas...the place was PACKED at 4 pm...and they are a jolly bunch. Yesterday? WAS A VERY GOOD DAY.

Happy Birthday Billy!!

#1 Brother-in-Law turns a young, spry 46 today. He doesn't look a day over 43. Honest. :)

THIS looks fecking awesome. And, by-the-by, Gerard Butler? SMOKIN' HOT.

Has anyone else had trouble with YouTube posts after migrating to the New Blogger? I've tried to post something 3 times in the last day or so and it won't recognize either my old (Blogger) or new (Gmail) logins. Aidez-moi!

Yadda yadda

Well, the internet issue was resolved by Friday afternoon, so I'm less cranky on that score. I've also given in to the cold that's been dogging me all week and have used the vacation time to sleep and read and watch movies and not much else. I did scoot out on Friday night to accompany TV to see Lily Allen at the 9:30 Club, and it was great! She is the cutest ballsy little Brit with to-die-for lyrics. XO should have a review up soon (which I'll link to) but in the meantime hustle out and buy her album Alright, Still. You'll thank me. (ed. I meant to mention--Kristin will be so proud--we got to the show and TV busted out some earplugs AND YET NEGLECTED TO SUGGEST THAT I BRING SOME but fortunately I had a spare pare en purse [there in case I needed them for studying purposes] and voila! Lily enjoyed sans ringing eardrums!)

In other news, Heather and I saw Music and Lyrics yesterday @ Potomac Yard. That place? Is insane. There were lines errrywhere, but still, a nice outing. The movie was cute enough, in the predictable romantic comedy way, but I enjoyed how self-effacing Hugh Grant was throughout the whole thing. Then we hit up Sine for a drink and can I just say that I LOVE DC's smoking ban and Virginia needs to get with the program ASAP. I come home from DC w/ no sore throat and not reeking of stale cigarette smell...an experience I'd love to duplicate in my home state.

Seriously, with the cold outside and the one in my head, I'm not doing anything with this time off and YOU CAN'T STOP ME. Turner Classic Movies is doing musicals today. I've already enjoyed Singin' in the Rain. Next up is a Doss family favorite, Seven Brides for Seven Brothers, and topping it off later I have Hello, Dolly! from Netflix. *happy sigh*

PS: While IMing w/an old high school friend she mentioned the religion that's sweeping the universe. Do read on....

Happy Birthday Erinn!!

The NEWMS joins the 3-0 club today. Things will never be the same. ;)

Of all the times...

I'm on vacation right now. After having no break between fall and winter quarters (moving and Thanksgiving) I elected to take a few days off this time where I would be neither in school nor at work, just resting and giving frazzled Anne some downtime. So now here it is, and my internet isn't working at home. Supposedly Comcast came by last night and fixed things (for all of 6 hours) then lo and behold this morning it's down again. So I hauled my ass over to Starbucks only to discover that you have to have a TMobile account to use their WiFi. Thus I bought some time ($6 worth--when my connection at home costs me $12/MONTH) and am frantically trying to handle some 'net bidness in the hour allotted me. I am cranky as hell about this, people.

CRANKY. AS. HELL.

I saw one of each of these over DC this morning. Thank goodness there wasn't much traffic on 395 because I was, um...distracted.
