Congratulations, Suzi and Tom!!

Congratulations to the new Mr. and Mrs. who were married Saturday at West Point. NYTimes announcement here. It was an *awesome* wedding and an even better reception with much dancing, great food, and the most well-behaved children at a wedding I have ever seen. Not to mention getting to spend quality time with Kristin, Clarence, and Jonathan, among others. I felt paroled from my recent life of work/school/not enough sleep/repeat. The foliage in upstate NY was at its peak and we only got lost in New Jersey, THE HOME OF SUCK, four times. Excellent weekend.

I just finished working for 10 hours straight on a project that is due next Tuesday. The best part? I'm only about a quarter of the way through. The really best part? If I were Kristin and this was last summer, this would be an average day.

Best view at the show...

In this shot I think you can tell that I'm 1) being caught unawares by Brandon and trying to force the camera away and 2) fighting off a big whiff of the pot smoke that wafted all around us at the concert on Saturday. B had an extra ticket to the Aerosmith/Motley Crue show at Nissan Pavilion, and a girl who--in middle school--used to lay by the speakers in her bedroom to write down the lyrics to Def Leppard albums because the liner notes were sadly lacking does not pass up this opportunity. You know how I break for outdoor concerts; I'd never been to Nissan, and the people watching had the promise of truly great comic irony. I was not disappointed, but we got there too late to take any good pix of the crowd (sorry, Kristin!). It was a toss up between funny teenagers who for some reason think that 40+ year-old, leather-faced Vince Neil speaks to their angst and 50+ y-o former bangers who think STEVEN TYLER ROCKS HEP C OR NO HEP C!!!! Both bands are showing their age and all the "Fuck yeah, Fucking Washington!!"s were a little sad but... gorgeous fall weather, Miller Lite, and a midnight breakfast at IHoP made up for all that. Many thanks to Brandon for the ticket, being my chauffeur, and pointing out a great work of fiction to make the minutes spent trying to get out of the NP parking lot go by faster.
