Happy Birthday Susie!!!

Even though it's not where she'd most want to be, today Susie is far from home entertaining hundreds of rapt countrymen, singing with the Sea Chanters. I hope she feels our well-wishes from afar and celebrates in true style, tonight and when she gets home. BlogSport loves our Singing Susie!

I stand before you, guilty as charged, a known Bad Friend. Mrs. Langley and I had a date last night at Starbucks in Penty Row and we figured out that we haven't seen each other since her wedding. In MAY. Gah...that's depressing.

The thing I struggle with is that my friends are from lots of different moments in my life. College, various jobs, extracurricular activities, graduate school(s), etc. All beloved, but all don't mix, or just don't know each other, and so I have to parcel out my time to see people across what few free moments I have. No one-stop shopping, not least because my apartment isn't big enough to host a big gathering in cold weather (backyard barbecues are different).

Case in point: I *could* be doing coffee with one work buddy, having dinner tomorrow with another, but 1. can't mix them and 2. don't actually have time. I've spent all of today so far writing a paper that's due on Monday and nursing a random sore throat. My solution to this time crunch and socializing dilemma?

A mimosa and a bubble bath. Calgon...no, Korbel...take me away.

You know it's a bad sign...

...when your backpack for school is so heavy that, when placed in the passenger seat, it sets off the seatbelt light. Like, Aithne mistakes my backpack for a person, it's THAT heavy, and insists that I belt it in. Oy.

HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!

2008 is off to a great start, complete with seeing all the friends in town that we wanted to, sating ourselves on football games, a BIG pot of homemade chicken chili and cornbread, and visiting with a sweet new fuzzy baby. We're off to Newport this afternoon for a final few days of relaxation before jumping into all of the new year's challenges. I hope everyone had a great New Years Eve and that I/we see all of you soon!
